Group Visits to Experience Cornish Mining Heritage

A tour of King Edward Mine is perfect as an outing for your society. Combined with a snack in the café, a browse in our shop and a walk on the Great Flat Lode trail,  this can take as long as you want.

Please contact King Edward Mine if you would like to arrange a group visit so that we can ensure that we have an appropriate number of guides to support your group using the booking form or email info@kingedwardmine.co.uk

If any of your group  would like to check any details about access, please see our King Edward Mine Accessibility Guide, available for download below.

How long will my visit take?

A tour of the museum typically takes an hour and a half (see the circular route marked in yellow on the map below).

Most visitors decide to join a guided tour with one of our volunteers. Many of our visitors stay on after their tour to read the exhibition boards in our museum and browse the many photos and videos.

Some visitors decide to self-guide. We have an audio guide that can be accessed using a QR code on your mobile phone.  However, as the Mill has moving machinery, a volunteer is necessary to accompany you for this part of your visit.

A visit to our museum is often a chance to visit the Croust Hut Cafe before or after the tour. Breakfast is served 10:00 - 11:30, lunch from 12:00 to 14:30. Please note that the cafe closes at 15:00 pm.

What Our Visitors Say About Us

From Trip Advisor June 2025

"Absolutely fascinating and good value too."

Absolutely excellent museum. We learnt so much about the history of mining in Cornwall and the associated buildings, machinery and processes. The guided tour was brilliant and our Guide Liam a mine 😄 of information.
Don't miss the engine house nearby that housed stamps, lovely spot to eat your sandwiches!
A fantastic place only made possible by dedicated volunteers.

"A hidden gem"
We visited the King Edward Mine Museum after picking up a leaflet. We have been coming to Cornwall for nearly 30 years and had never heard of it before.  It is run entire ly by volunteers and what a fantastic job they do!
The guide's are all very knowledgeable and obviously care about what they are doing, this comes through on the tour.
The exhibits are really interesting and most are demonstrated during the tour. "
"Pure History"
King Edward Mine Museum is a fascinating insight into the history of Cornish Mining. It has one of the best collections of mining gear including some working Stamps. Staff are friendly and the tour is very informative. On site cafe serves good food."
