King Edward Mine: An Illustrated Account of Underground and Surface Operations 1897-2001
by Tony Brooks and John Watton.
Between 1893 and 1906 John Charles Burrow took many photographs both on surface and underground and became one of the most photographed mines in Cornwall.
The account of mine photography is fascinating. One has only to try to take photographs underground to appreciate the skills required.
What Our Visitors Say About Us
"Good local mining history
Here is a collection of mining artefacts and machinery supported by knowledgeable staff.
You will have a very interesting hour or two. Seeing and listening to the stamps running was a revelation. How did miners and bal maidens put up with the noise. To cap a good visit try the cafe. Good food."
"Amazing Bat Safari
Wow, the Bat Safari last night was incredible! It was appropriate for all ages and very interactive. When we arrived we were greeted by staff and volunteers from the Mine who were friendly and engaging. We were given a information pack which was super useful. Rick (bat man) was really interesting and engaging. The session was just incredible.
Can't recommend the staff and facilities enough !"
